About Rajsunakhala College
Rajsunakhala College, a premier educational institution in the district of Nayagarh was established in the year 1978 to comply with the aspiration for higher education of the rural students around the locality. It was founded in the memory of the illustrious Odia poet Sri Bhakta Charan Das who has immensely contributed to the Odia Baishnaba Sahitya through his Epic-poem Mathura Mangal. The college stands on a scenic site halfway between Khurda and Nayagarh alongside the National Highway No.57 and is widely known as "BHAKTA VIHAR".
Under the accomplished leadership of Late Sri Krushna Chandra Mishra, the founder President, the sincere and tireless endeavour of Sri Madhusudan Mohapatra, the pioneer secretary, Sri Sarat Chandra Mishra, the founder Principal.
The foundation stone of the college was laid by Sri Pratap Chandra Mohanty, former Education Minister, Govt. of Odisha. Since its inception the institution is marching ahead to achieve perfection and excellence in imparting education to its students. A host of capable principals who worked for this institution for the last 40 years have added to the quality, dignity and image of the college. At present the college has its own building of approx. 13,000 sqft and imparts teaching in Arts & Science both are +2 & +3 degree level. Facilities in Honours teaching are available in History, Political Science, English, Economics, Psychology, Odia, Education, Sociology, Sanskrit, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Botany & Zoology with adequate teaching, laboratory and library support. From a students strength of 100 and a staff strength of 5 in the opening year, the present student and staff strength is 1570 & 82 respectively. Apart from academic activities, the college has also earned distinction in the field of NSS, NCC and Red Cross. The students of this college have displayed their talents in the academic and co-curricular fields. The teachers of various faculties are regularly going through Orientation and Refresher courses to keep themselves abreast of their teaching skills. During the last several years the college has been recognised as a nodal centre for valuation of University Exams and examination squad by the +2 council and Utkal University. As per UGC decision dated 23.08.2011 this college has been included under session 2(f) and 12(b) of the UGC Act.1956. The college is marching ahead towards scholastic excellence. In the year 2012- 13, Titikshya Nebedita and in the year 2018-19 Arati Dora held the prestige of this institution high by securing the first position in Psychology honours and Sanskrit honours respectively under Utkal University.
