College Examinations
HIGHER SECONDARY EXAMINATION
Every student of the 1st year of +2 classes shall have to appear all college examinations i.e. First Terminal Examination, and another Annual Examination during the academic year.
Similarly every student of the 2nd year +2 classes and 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year of +3 classes shall have to appear at Test Examination. First Terminal/Pre-Test Examination is usually held after Puja Vacation and Annual/Test Examination, normally held during the month of December. These College examinations are compulsory, and unless a student appears at the same he/she shall not be promoted to the next higher class and / or be sent up for the University/H.S. Examination.
The students with poor result and / or absenting themselves from these examinations are liable to be detained. Students cannot have their scholarships renewed in the next higher class, unless they secure at least 50% of marks in the Annual Examination.
In case a student remains absent in the Annual/Test examination under unavoidable circumstances, and if the Principal is satisfied with such reasons, his/her results in the First Terminal/Pre-Test examination alone will be taken into consideration for all these purposes as mentioned above.
At least one week prior to the commencement of each college examination, the Principal will issue notice showing time schedule of the examination and papers to be examined which, unless otherwise notified, usually includes lessons taught/covered up to date in the subject/paper for the examinations of the First Terminal / Pre-Test/Annual at the end of 1st year of Pre-Degree course, whereas the entire course prescribed by the C.H.S.E./ University shall be included for Test examinations.
If Principal deems necessary he may also shift the examination so notified to any other date and time.
GENERAL EXAM RULES & PUNISHMENT FOR INFRINGEMENT
Students required to read and observe the instructions given in the back side of their Admit Cards issued to them by the C.H.S.E./University admitting them to the respective examinations and the instructions given on the Answer Books supplied to them at the beginning of each examination. Inside and outside the examination hall, students should strictly adhere to the examination rules and discipline. They should not possess any incirminating material except their identity cards and Admit Cards, while inside the examination hall. They should keep their Identity Cards on the table during the examinaion hours.
Candidates should subject themselves to physical check by the teachers at the entrance and inside the examination hall even during examination. Candidates are required to enter the examination hall only 15 minutes before the examination sitting starts and occupy their respective seats according to seat allotment chart and maintain absolute silence in the examination hall. A candidate is not allowed to enter the examination hall and appear at the examination coming later after 30 minutes and also not allowed to leave the examination hall before completion of one hour, after the examination sitting starts.
Usually after one hour of the examination sitting starts, a candidate may also make temporary absence for a minimum period not more than once for use of Toilets/Urinal with the permission of the Invigilator and while doing so shall leave his/her answer books, question papers, Admit Card and Identity Card under the custody of the respective Invigilator. Candidates are not allowed to leave the examination hall before 10 minutes of the warning bell without submitting the answer books.
Candidates are required to read questions thoroughly and write answers properly in the Answer Books and additional Answer Books to be supplied according to their requirements, after entering required information’s only o the front page of each answer books. Writing of indecent/immoral matters which are vague/irrelevant, in the answer books will be viewed seriously and even may be liable for punishment by the Principal and / or concerned authorities will deem fit. It is the duty of the candidate ot hand over the Answer Books to the Invigilator before leaving the examination hall.
Writing of any thing on the question paper or Admit Card is strictly forbidden. Infringement of any of the examination rules shall be treated severely. For infringment of examination rules and / or adopting of unfair means in the examinations of the C.H.S.E./Utkal University, one is punishable according to the rules prescribed by the C.H.S.E/University and under the provisions of the Odisha Examination Act as is applicable.
In addition to above punishment, for infringement of any examination rules and / or discipline and / or adopting unfair means in the examinations and /or indulging in misconduct, the student may be expelled from appearing the examination and / or may not be allowed to continue further studies in this college and may be issue compulsory T.C. and / or may be fined and / or may be punished in any manner as the Principal will deem fit, which is final and binding in all respects.
SUBJECTS OF HIGHER SECONDARY EDUCATION
1. Besides the compulsory subjects like (i) English, M.I.L. and (ii) Environmental Education, a candidate shall offer any four elective subjects from any of the group under (iii) A or B or C.
2. Duration of course: The syllabi for 2 years course of each subject shall be divided into two parts, namely 1st year and 2nd year carrying 100 marks each. The college will conduct one examination at the end of the 1st year class of +2 course and the council conduct the examination at the end of the 2nd year class of +2 course. The result of a candidate will be determined only on the performance of the candidate in the Council examination to be held at the end of the 2nd year course.
3. The pass criteria: The pass critera for the Examination shall be as follows:-
(i) Subejct with Practical : 30% of the total marks shall be diverted for practical
examinations and the remaining 70% thereof, for theory. A candidate has to
pass separately in theory and practical. Pass Marks in Biology shall be
calculated taking together the marks secured in both Botay and Zoology
(adding the marks of Botany and Zoology).
(ii) Pass marks shall be 30% of the marks in theory paper and 40% of the total
marks in practical paper, in each subject with 30% of the total marks in the
aggregate.
4. Course structure and Subjects of Examination: The course structure and objects for the Higher Secondary Examination and the maximum marks in each subject shall be as follows:-
